Starring: Constance Money, Jaime Gillis, Terri Hall, Gloria Leonard, Jenny Baxter, Jacqueline Beudant, Mary Stewart, Cynthia Gardner, Marlene Willoughby. Constance Money and Jaime Gillis are great in their roles. The performances all around - sex and acting - are very good. The production values here are tremendous, as good as any independent feature of the time it was made (1975). The direction, editing and photgraphy is stylistic and arty, possibly influenced by the French New Wave which was a coming trend. This film should be letterboxed. The soundtrack and sceore is superior, with familiar music (The William Tell Overture is heard over one fuck scene). This is a professionally made movie that rivals mainstream films of the period. This flick sizzels with erocticism. Constance Money plays Misty Beethoven who is selling handjobs in a French porn theatre when she is discovered by Seymour Love, played by Jaime Gillis. After jerking off an old guy dressed like Napoleon in the theatre, Misty joins Seymour who convinces her to let him teach her how to rise to a higher class of prostitution. In the style of 'My fair Lady' which is clearly the idea here, Misty is put through a series of sex training exercises. Meanwhile, there is sex everywhere. On the plane, stews take orders for drinks and blowjobs (One guy bitches that he got his blowjob, but not his drink - what airline is this??). Throughout the film, there are constant images of sex, particularly blowjobs, in the background of the main action, along with lots if cum flying. The sexual situations are kinky and erotic. In one scene, Misty seduces a homosexual into fucking her, and in another she uses a strap on dildo to fuck a guy at the opera (She's come a long way from selling handjobs at porno theatres), This film is not the kind of graphic fuck fest you'll see in 90's or 80's films, and it is better and hotter for it. Also of not is that the cast of ladies is very attractive and natural looking, refreshingly absent of any augmentation. Jaime Fillis sparkles here. The man can act and shows his best in this flick. Constance Money is a hottie and is extemely erotic in her frequent sex scenes. The script is literate and funny, and the entire cast is superb at straight delivery of funny lines. The tongue-in-cheek humor is constant, clever and effective. On the way to Rome from New York, Misty asks Seymour what's the difference between New York and Rome. Seymoure tell her there aren't as many Italians in Rome. This is the very rare XXX film that sucessfully blends erotic and kinky sex with humor, a good script, superior filmmaking, and even romance. Can't think of a thing to complain about. This is a talky and artful XXX film which might not be for all tastes, but the sex is plentiful and hot. 'The opening of Misty Beethoven' is an award winner and considered, rightfully so, to be a classic. Dare I say, this is a much better flim than the three big classics (Deep Throat, The Devil In Miss Jones, Behind The Green Door). 'Misty' is a great film for couples and ladies as well as your basic stroking guys (It even has some raincoater appeal). This is not just a classic of the 70's porn era, it's a really good film - XXX or otherwise - and I rate it a 10 out of 10.
